Amie moved with her family to Indianapolis around 1937.
They first moved to 321 S. Rural Street in Indianapolis.
A short time later SD bought a house at 40 N. Randolph Street in Indianapolis.  SD made the upstairs of the house an apartment which he rented to various families over the years.

She worked at Service Products in Indianapolis.

About 1976 they sold their house on Randolph and rented an apartment at Fox Harbour apartments on the south side of Indianapolis.

Amie took great pride in keeping her home neat and spotless. She also took pride in her appearance every day, and hated the idea of getting grey hair.  You won't see any grey in her 50th aniversary pricture.   She was, to me, the best cook that ever lived, and frequently used a pressure cooker when preparing food.  She could make better pancakes from scratch than have ever been sold in a box.  And most of all, she was the perfect grandmother.

We can trace some of Amies ancestors all the way back to Jamestown in 1608 and even before, thanks to the work of Joyce Hetrick. who you will see referenced often in looking at Amies Ancestors. Click on the tree link below to view the ancestors of Amie Myrtle Holmes Smith.
