John O. Miller in 1880 Census.

In 1880 John and his family in Grant County, Aims Township, IN. By 1900 John had moved to Jennings County, Spencer Township IN.

In 1900 John O. Miller lived in the household of his sister Martha L Mundy and his brother-in-law Eli Mundy. Eli and Martha had 2 sons, Anthony (born Apr 1894) and William (born Nov 1896) and a daughter Inez (born Oct 1899). With John were his children Ethel, Mary, Ralphford and Anna, and his brother George. The 1900 census said they both could read english, but neither could write.  Ethel and Mary could both read and write as teenagers.  John and George both worked as laborers at the time.  Ralphford is listed as a niece, but also listed as a Male.

By 1920 67 year old John was living in the household of his daughter Mary (Louie) and her husband Jesse Rutledge.  John was still working as a laborer at the local iron foundery.  Also living in the house were Marys children from a previous marraige to David Spaulding, Eliza, Violet and Ada Spaulding Bencik, the wife of Ed Bencik, who also lived there.  Also living in the house was Charles Rutledge, the son of Mary and Jesse Rutledge.  A non-family member was also living in the house named Steve Nirge, born in Austria to Hungarian and Czech parents.

Living upstairs or in side apartment (I think) were Ed Benciks parents, John and Theresa Bencik, whom I believed owned the house at the time.  I could find no record of John O. Miller after 1920.  I have not been able to establish the identity of his parents.

1920 Census shows John O. Miller in Jesse Rutledge household
