David Bencik was a member of the Indianapolis Police force.  He was one of the early leaders of the Indianapolis Police Motorcycle Drill Team.  He was the head of the traffic division of the Indianapolis Police Department.

For many years David was in charge for controlling traffic in and around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the qualifications and race. 

After he retired from the Police Department, he moved to Martinsville, IN for a few years, then to Port St Richie, FL. 

David and Marge had no children, but they treated all of their neices and nephews as if they were their own.

David died of complications following surgery to repair an aortic aneurism.
